DAY 13: VISIT THE RAINBOW TROUT FARM
For a day the kids won’t forget, take them to the Rainbow Trout Farm on Oak Creek. If your kids have never caught fish before, this will be a blast for them.
The fish are raised in two artesian springs next to Oak Creek. The farm will supply the fishing poles and bait as well. It’s not ‘catch and release’. You catch it, you keep it, no license required. You can also BBQ your fish on-site for a streamside family picnic. BBQ kits are available for$1.
It can get expensive if you catch a lot. Figure $8-$12 per fish depending on size. Fish average about 12 inches long. Look for a discount coupon at the Chamber of Commerce in Upper Sedona.
Alternately, you can purchase fish food and feed the fish which is always fun too. If it’s warm out, a visit to Slide Rock State Park just up the road for some fun swimming in Oak Creek.
